What does it feel like to experience a commercial dispute not from a lecture hall, but from the judge’s bench?
That is exactly what law students had the opportunity to find out as part of the Hessian Court Internship Programme at the Commercial Court of the Frankfurt Higher Regional Court. In a moot court setting, the students stepped into different roles and conducted a hearing under conditions designed to be as close as possible to real-life proceedings.
And there could hardly have been a more fitting setting: the purpose-built courtrooms of the Commercial Court Frankfurt and the Commercial Chambers, specifically equipped for complex commercial disputes. The students also experienced first-hand how modern courtroom technology can support the conduct of proceedings – from state-of-the-art presentation and video-conferencing systems to the technical facilities required for producing a verbatim record of hearings and the taking of evidence.
